Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to Olive Cart’s FAQ! Get the scoop on our premium olive oils and balsamic vinegars, plus a handy butter-to-olive oil conversion chart for your recipes.

Product Information

Is your olive oil local?

Not quite — Michigan’s climate isn’t ideal for olive groves. But we source our oils from some of the finest producers around the world, ensuring every bottle is packed with quality and flavor.

How should I store my oils and vinegars? What is their shelf-life?

Keep your oils and vinegars at room temperature, tightly capped, and out of direct sunlight (never in the fridge!). Stored properly, oils stay fresh for 1.5–2 years (or more), and vinegars can last even longer.

Are your oils and vinegars gluten-free?

Yes! We are excited to say those with gluten allergies can safely consume our oils and balsamic vinegars.

Is there sugar added to your balsamic vinegars?

Nope! The sweet, rich flavor of our balsamic vinegars comes naturally from grapes, aged to perfection for 25 years. No added sugar, just pure goodness.

Cooking Tips

What are the best oils to use for baking?

Use unflavored olive or avocado oils for a neutral flavor, or flavored oil to compliment our baked goods (for example, our Lakefront Lemon EVOO tastes lovely in lemon cake!)

What are the best oils to use for frying?

Choose oils with a high smoke point such as:

  • Avocado Oil 520°F
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) 410°F
  • Butternut Squash Seed Oil 425°F
  • Sesame seed oil 350°F.

Others such as sunflower, peanut, and coconut oils also have high smoke points for frying.

What are the best oils to use for sautéing & roasting?

Use EVOO for medium heat, avocado oils for higher temps (choose a flavored EVOO for a little oomph!)

Whare are the best oils to use for dressings and drizzling?

All of them! Our flavored and unflavored oils are all made to enjoy. Add some character to your meal by mixing them with our Lambrusco or Pear Champagne vinegars, or one of our 25-year-aged white or dark balsamic vinegars.
